Rain and Gusty Winds Expected Across Karnataka; IMD Issues Weather Update

Bengaluru: As temperatures continue to rise across Karnataka, several parts of the state are also experiencing intermittent light showers—even during the peak of summer. According to forecasts, this mixed weather pattern is expected to persist for the next week in many districts.

On Sunday, light to moderate rainfall is likely in parts of coastal Karnataka, including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts. Northern interior districts such as Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Bagalkote, Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, Koppal, and Raichur are also expected to receive rainfall. However, dry conditions are likely to prevail in Bidar and Yadgir districts.

In the southern interior regions, strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h are forecast for several districts including Ballari, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, and Ramanagara.

Looking ahead to May 12, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by winds blowing at 30 to 40 km/h in many areas of coastal and northern interior Karnataka. Districts such as Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Bagalkote, Belagavi, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura, and Yadgir are on alert for this weather.

Meanwhile, southern districts including Ballari, Bengaluru (Urban and Rural), Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, and Vijayanagara may also witness thunderstorms with gusty winds at speeds around 40 km/h.
