Raichur: A case has been registered at the Raichur City West Police Station against members of the Samiti staging indefinite strike demanding AIIMS to be established in Raichur for allegedly defaming Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and city MLA Shivraj Patil and issuing death threats.
The police action follows a complaint filed by Veerana Gowda, President of the Raichur district BJP unit. A case has been filed against AIIMS activists Ashok Jain, Basavaraj Kalas, M.R. Berry, S. Mareppa, and two others. The BJP had submitted a formal complaint to the District Commissioner on Wednesday demanding action against the accused.
What is the BJP’s Complaint?
In his complaint, BJP district president Veerana Gowda stated that on June 24, during a press conference held at the Press Club in Raichur, the accused allegedly used abusive language against Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and threatened to assault him wherever he was found. These inflammatory remarks, according to the complaint, could disrupt social harmony and disturb public peace.
Gowda demanded that an immediate criminal case be registered against the individuals and their associates and that strict legal action be initiated for issuing life threats and using offensive language against a respected Union Minister.
