Shivanand Kunnur Murder Case:
Haveri: In connection with the murder of Congress leader and contractor Shivanand Kunnur in Shiggaon town of Haveri district, police arrested five accused on Thursday, June 26.
ASP L.Y. Shirkol stated that while the accused were being brought in, a scuffle broke out between them and the police near Kondacchi in Hangal taluk. The accused attacked the police and attempted to escape. In response, Shiggaon CPI Satyappa and Hangal PSI Sampat Anikivi opened fire on the main accused, Nagraj Savadatti and Ashraf, injuring them in the leg. The injured were initially treated at the district hospital and later shifted to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi for further treatment.
The other three accused — Hanumant, Sudeep, and Suresh — were also taken into custody.
Two police personnel, Ravi and Harish, who sustained injuries during the incident, have been admitted to the district hospital and are currently undergoing treatment.
