Hubballi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is renowned for his rationalist perspectives, vehemently opposing blind beliefs and superstitions, although he occasionally visits temples and offers prayers to gods. While he has not declared himself an atheist, he consistently opposes blind beliefs and superstitions. Notably, on a few occasions, he visited Chamaraja Nagar in South Karnataka, contradicting the belief that the incumbent CM’s visit to the city might result in a loss of power. His visits effectively disproved this superstition.

Similarly, local belief suggests that whoever visits the Virupaksha Temple in Hampi will lose their power. This belief is supported by historical examples involving former CMs like BS Yediyurappa and S Bangarappa, as well as national figures like Indira Gandhi.

During Siddaramaiah’s previous tenure as CM, while inaugurating the Hampi Utsav, he did not visit the temple. Instead, he clarified to journalists that he had already visited the temple with former Deputy Chief Minister MP Prakash, offering an explanation for his absence when questioned about not visiting the temple during the event.
