OTTAWA, CANADA— Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau emphasized the significance of Canada’s concerns as he commented on U.S. allegations regarding an Indian government official’s involvement in an unsuccessful plot to assassinate a Khalistani terrorist on U.S. soil.

The U.S. Justice Department revealed on Wednesday that a 52-year-old individual collaborated with an Indian government employee responsible for security and intelligence in the said plot, targeting a New York City resident advocating for a Sikh sovereign state in northern India.

Trudeau, addressing reporters in Ottawa, underscored the need for India to treat similar allegations made by Canada with the seriousness they deserve. The U.S. charges come approximately two months after Canada asserted “credible” allegations linking Indian agents to the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in a Vancouver suburb in June. India has vehemently denied these allegations.

The developments highlight an escalating tension between the two countries, as concerns over alleged state-sponsored activities continue to strain diplomatic relations. The Canadian government’s insistence on addressing these issues reflects a commitment to transparency and accountability in the face of complex geopolitical challenges.
