Indore and Surat Crowned Cleanest Cities in India at Swachh Survekshan Awards

Indore and Surat jointly received the title of the cleanest cities in India at the Swachh Survekshan Awards, presented by President Droupadi Murmu. Indore’s seventh consecutive win, with a seven-star rating as a ‘garbage-free city,’ underscores its consistent commitment to cleanliness. Madhya Pradesh secured the second position among the cleanest states. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, along with other officials, accepted the award and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance for the city’s success.

Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, secured the fifth position as a clean city with a five-star rating for being garbage-free. Additionally, Budhni, hometown of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, was recognized as the ‘Cleanest City of West Zone’ in a specific population category.

In smaller cities, Naurozabad and Amarkantak topped the list for populations under one lakh, while Mhow was acknowledged as the cleanest Cantonment Board. The survey, featuring over 4,400 cities, encompassed 9,500 points, and Indore’s impressive score emphasized its excellence in segregated waste management. The awards ceremony highlighted the continued success of Indore in maintaining high cleanliness standards.
