Hubballi: MLA Mahesh Tenginkai, visited the residence of Srikanth Poojari, who was recently arrested by the Hubballi-Dharwad police in connection with the violence during the Sri Rama Janabhoomi protest in 1992 on December 5.
On that day, a shop was set ablaze in protest related to the Ram Janmabhoomi issue, leading to the Town Police filing a First Information Report (FIR) listing nine accused. Srikant Poojari, a resident of Narayana Sofa near Amba Bhavani temple in Old Hubballi, was one of those arrested in connection with the case.
During his visit, Mahesh met with Srikanth’s family members, including his wife Ambika and his son Manjunath. Mahesh encouraged the family to remain courageous and strongly condemned the arrest, alleging that the Congress government is biased against Hindus and targeting Hindu activists.
