Kolkata, Nov 26: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee unequivocally dismissed the possibility of a seat-sharing agreement between the Trinamool Congress and any other political entity in the state for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

During a public rally in Deganga, North 24 Parganas district, on Thursday, Banerjee asserted that while the grand opposition INDIA bloc would contest nationally, the Trinamool Congress would lead the charge in West Bengal.

“Let the INDIA bloc exist nationally. But in West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress will fight. Remember, only the Trinamool can teach the BJP a lesson in West Bengal. Trinamool can show the path to the entire country. No other party is capable of doing that,” stated the Chief Minister.

Political analysts suggest that Banerjee’s statement signals a message to her party members to prepare for a solo effort in 2024, rather than relying on alliances or seat-sharing arrangements.

In her speech, the Chief Minister equated the Congress, CPI(M), and BJP on the issue of central agency actions in West Bengal, accusing them of ‘targeting’ Trinamool insiders.

“They have arrested our minister Jyotipriya Mallick so that he cannot be active for the party in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. On this matter, the CPI(M), Congress, and the BJP are hitting the streets on the same line,” remarked the Chief Minister.

She also issued a stern warning against the escalating infighting within Trinamool across various parts of the state.

“If any leader believes they are bigger than the party, they will not be able to continue within Trinamool. I will not tolerate any kind of infighting. Do not consider yourself more important than the party,” emphasized the Chief Minister.
