BengaluruFormer Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, who recently returned to the BJP less than a year after switching to the Congress, paid a visit to the party headquarters on Friday, expressing his commitment to touring the entire state of Karnataka to fortify the party’s presence. Shettar outlined his determination to secure more seats for the saffron party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections compared to the last general elections.

In accordance with the party’s directives, Shettar pledged his involvement in organizing and strengthening the party at the state level. He cited the encouragement from party workers, state leadership, and national leaders as factors influencing his return, emphasizing that he anticipates being granted a significant position within the party.

Describing his return to the BJP as a “homecoming,” Shettar emphasized the strong familial ties his family has with the party, underscoring that certain developments before the Assembly elections led him to join the Congress temporarily.

Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance over the past decade, Shettar expressed his vision of supporting Modi for a third consecutive term. He cited Modi’s achievements and the fulfillment of the dreams of millions who aspire for India to emerge as an economic power.

Reflecting on the recent inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Shettar highlighted his previous involvement in organizing events related to the Rath Yatra led by BJP veteran L.K. Advani in Hubballi. He took pride in contributing to the collection of funds amounting to Rs 2 crore for the construction of the Ram Mandir, expressing satisfaction that the dream of building the temple has now been realized under PM Modi’s leadership.

Looking ahead, Shettar pledged to build consensus within the party, aiming to strengthen its unity and further its political influence.
