Glen Maxwell Hospitalised During a Party: Cricket Australia Initiate an Inquiry
Cricket Australia (CA) has initiated an inquiry into an incident involving dynamic all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who was urgently hospitalized after a late-night gathering in Adelaide last week.
As reported by the Daily Telegraph, Maxwell was in attendance at a concert by ‘Six and Out,’ featuring former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee, where he began feeling unwell while enjoying drinks.
CA acknowledged the incident concerning the influential all-rounder, a key player in Australia’s victorious World Cup campaign in India last October-November.
In a statement quoted by ‘ESPNcricinfo,’ CA stated, “Cricket Australia is aware of an incident involving Glenn Maxwell in Adelaide at the weekend and is seeking further information.” Maxwell, who recently stepped down as captain of the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL) after falling short of reaching the finals, was not included in the 13-man squad for the three-match ODI series against the West Indies scheduled from February 2 to 6.
CA clarified, “It is not related to him being replaced in the ODI squad, a decision that was made following the BBL and based on his individual management plan. Maxwell is expected to return for the T20 series.
No further comment will be made at this time.” Following a brief hospitalization, Maxwell has been discharged and has resumed training. In the previous year, Maxwell grappled with a series of injuries; nevertheless, he delivered commendable performances in the World Cup.
In the ODI World Cup in India, he faced concussion after falling off a golf cart in Ahmedabad. In 2022, he broke his leg during a slip while running at a friend’s birthday celebration, sidelining him for over three months.
