Vizag, February 5: In a setback for the Indian team on the fourth day of the second Test against England, young opener Shubman Gill has been ruled out of fielding due to an injured right index finger. Gill sustained the injury while fielding on Day 2 and did not take the field today.

According to the BCCI, Gill hurt his finger while fielding and despite his valiant century in the first innings, he is not fit enough to take the field. However, the Board has assured that the injury is not considered serious.

In Gill’s absence, Sarfaraz Khan has taken his place in the field. England, chasing a mammoth target of 399 runs, are currently at 184/4, needing 215 runs with six wickets remaining.

Gill’s absence weakens the Indian fielding unit, as he is known for his agility and sharp throws. However, the hosts will be hoping that his replacement, Sarfaraz Khan, can step up and contribute with his fielding skills.

The match remains finely poised, with England needing to build partnerships and score steadily to chase down the target. India, on the other hand, will be looking to take quick wickets and put pressure on the visitors.
