CHENNAI: Vijay Sethupathi’s recent outing, Ace, which hit theatres globally on May 23, 2025, has now arrived on Amazon Prime Video, offering audiences an early digital release barely weeks after its big-screen debut.
A romantic crime comedy, Ace generated considerable anticipation, thanks to Sethupathi’s star power and its offbeat genre combination. However, the film received a lukewarm critical response and underperformed commercially, prompting hopes that its OTT release could help it connect with a wider audience.
Directed by a fresh voice in Tamil cinema, Ace features Rukmini Vasanth, of Sapta Sagaradaache Ello fame, as the female lead. The supporting cast includes Yogi Babu, BS Avinash, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Divya Pillai, and Ramesh Thilak, bringing a strong ensemble to the narrative.
The story follows Kannan, a man who relocates abroad in pursuit of a better life. However, his dream quickly spirals into a nightmare when a botched heist drags him into a murky criminal underworld. As trust becomes a rare commodity and danger looms at every turn, Kannan must depend on his instincts to navigate the treacherous path ahead.
With its digital launch, Ace gets a second shot at resonating with viewers—this time from the comfort of their homes.
