The United States military has initiated a fresh round of missile strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen, employing Tomahawk missiles launched from both naval surface vessels and the USS Florida, a guided missile submarine, as reported by CNN.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) asserts that these strikes aim to diminish the Houthi rebels’ capabilities to conduct further aggressive actions against international and commercial shipping. The decision to target Houthi anti-ship weapons prior to launch appears to be a strategic shift, prompted by an earlier incident where a bomb-carrying drone, launched by Houthi militants in Yemen, attacked the US-owned ship Genco Picardy in the Gulf of Aden. This move underscores a proactive approach by the US military to neutralize potential threats posed by Houthi anti-ship weaponry.
