On Saturday, the Indian Premier League (IPL) announced that the Tata Group has secured the title sponsorship for the 2024-28 seasons with a “record-breaking” investment of $300 million. Renowned for its celebrity franchise owners and featuring top international cricket players, the IPL stands as the world’s wealthiest T20 tournament, boasting an estimated brand value of $8.4 billion.

The league has proven to be a significant revenue source for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), as evidenced by the whopping $6.2 billion generated from the media rights for the 2023-27 period in the 10-team competition.

Notably, the Tata Group has held the title sponsorship for both the men’s IPL and the Women’s Premier League since the latter’s inception last year. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah emphasized the “unprecedented financial commitment,” highlighting the IPL’s immense scale and global impact on the international sports stage.
