Washington, DC: In a concerning incident ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris’s upcoming visit to Arizona, shots were fired at a campaign office in a Phoenix suburb. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported, as the office was empty at the time of the gunfire, according to the Associated Press.

The Tempe Police Department is actively investigating the incident, treating it as a property crime. Local media outlets, including the Arizona Republic, reported that this is not the first time the campaign office has been targeted; a previous shooting involving what appeared to be pellet or BB gun rounds occurred on September 16.

Visual evidence from the scene revealed multiple bullet holes, including two in the door and two more in nearby windows. Sean McEnerney, the Arizona Democratic Party’s coordinated campaign manager, expressed relief that no one was present during the incident, stating, “We are grateful to Tempe Police for coming quickly to the scene and are fortunate no one was present or injured.”

A Surprising Moment During a Livestream Forum

In a separate but equally striking moment, Vice President Harris found herself in the spotlight during a recent livestreamed forum with Oprah Winfrey. The event took a somber turn as it opened with a powerful video highlighting the horrors of gun violence, including a tearful mother who pleaded for action in front of her daughter, a survivor of a school shooting.

When the conversation shifted to the topic of gun ownership, Harris made a surprising comment that caught many off guard. Laughing, she quipped, “If someone breaks in my house, they’re getting shot.” This candid response marked a departure from her typically measured tone on gun safety issues.

Realizing the potential fallout from her comment, Harris quickly noted, “I probably should not have said that,” acknowledging the gravity of the subject matter. Winfrey attempted to lighten the mood, affirming Harris’s sentiment, but the vice president continued to reflect on her words, stating, “My staff will deal with that later,” while still chuckling.
