Over 25,000 Candidates Employed Abroad, Saudi Arabia Tops List

Between April 2022 and December 2023, every second candidate trained under Skill India International Centres (SIIC) secured employment abroad, with a significant portion landing jobs in Saudi Arabia.

Union Skill Minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar revealed that 25,300 candidates found overseas employment through SIICs. The top destinations included Saudi Arabia (13,944), Qatar (3,646), UAE (2,832), and the UK (1,248).

The ministry plans to establish 30 SIICs across states to facilitate skilled mobility, providing destination-based skilling and support services. Currently, two SIICs are operational in Varanasi and Bhubaneswar. Additionally, the ministry has MoUs with eight countries to enhance cooperation in areas like information exchange, qualifications recognition, and training initiatives.
