Kashi Vishwanath Dham Corridor Marks Two Years: Draws 13 Crore Pilgrims Worldwide
In the heart of Varanasi, the Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor has woven a tale of spirituality and transformation over the past two years. Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this sacred space, it has embraced a staggering 13 crore pilgrims, including 16,000 from distant lands.
Picture this: a meticulously renovated corridor, unveiled on December 13, 2021, with the noble aim of making the revered shrine more accessible and the devotees’ experience more profound. Spearheading this visionary initiative was Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, breathing new life into the sacred site with improved amenities.
As we approach its second anniversary, KV Dham isn’t just a pilgrimage destination; it’s a magnetic force drawing devotees globally and breathing vitality into the local hospitality sector.
Sunil Verma, the insightful Chief Executive Officer of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham and Special Area Development Authority, unveils the numbers behind this pilgrimage phenomenon. From December 13, 2021, to December 6, 2023, the corridor witnessed an astounding footfall of 12,92,24,000 pilgrims, including 15,930 international devotees.
Now, here’s the remarkable part: bookings for this year have nearly doubled compared to the previous, signaling an unprecedented surge in interest and participation. Verma attributes this surge to the tireless efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, guided by the wisdom of Prime Minister Modi. Their collective vision not only enriched the pilgrimage experience but has also catapulted Kashi into a new era of religious tourism, painting a canvas of spiritual dimensions yet unexplored.
