Japan Commits $13.5 Million in Humanitarian Aid to Afghanistan

TOKYO: The World Food Programme (WFP) reveals a $13.5 million humanitarian aid pledge from Japan for Afghanistan.
The funding aims to assist nearly 630,000 food-insecure individuals, treating over 42,000 malnourished mothers and children, and providing fortified biscuits to 36,000 school children.
WFP emphasizes aiding those facing economic challenges. Afghans request transparent aid distribution, urging the Islamic Emirate’s cooperation.
The spokesman assures the economy is stable, seeking increased international support. The Ministry of Economy emphasizes channeling aid towards development projects and employment-generating sectors. Earlier, Denmark pledged $2.2 million for Afghan humanitarian aid, totaling $36.4 million since 2015.
