Mangaluru: A case has been registered for harassing a couple in Mangaluru. The victims, an interfaith couple, were allegedly harassed by rightwing activists on Panambur beach, said sources.

The woman, who is originally from Kadur in Chikkamagalur district and works in Bengaluru, was at the beach with a friend when the activists confronted them.

According to the woman, she had come to Mangaluru alone and had invited her friend to accompany her to the beach. She also mentioned that she was en route to Malpe to visit another female friend. In videos capturing the incident, the activists can be seen interrogating the woman about her association with her friend before approaching a police constable. The Panambur police sub-inspector subsequently arrived at the scene.

After the confrontation, four activists—Prashant Bhandari, Keerthan Poojari, Umesh, and Sudhir—were taken into custody, as reported by sources.
