Bengaluru: Former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai has urged the state government to immediately constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe Hangal gang-rape case.

In a tweet, he said, “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ‘s refusal to constitute a Special Investigation Team to probe the Haveri rape incident is just like giving a licence to the local police to shut the case as the case has already been diluted.”

Bommai strongly condemned the stand of his successor and demanded him to constitute the SIT if he wants to render justice to the victim. Siddaramaiah did not have the reply regarding the victim being sent home without the proper medical treatment and also the Congress MLAs giving instructions to give her the medical treatment.

The state government’s health department was so big but still it was unable to arrange treatment for victim. Asking the party legislators to arrange for the treatment shows the government’s intentions to hush up the case. Thereby trying to to take absolute control over the woman. So, the government must take the responsibility of providing treatment to her.
