The Haveri Moral Policing case has taken a disturbing turn as the victim has come forward, claiming she was gang-raped by the vigilantes involved. In a video released on Thursday, the victim, who was a target of the moral policing incident in Haveri, alleges that she was brutally assaulted by a group of miscreants.

The incident occurred in Hangal, where the victim, belonging to a minority community, and her male companion of a different faith were reportedly assaulted in a lodge in Nalkar Cross within Hangal station limits on January 8. The married woman was forcibly taken from the hotel when a gang of five to six men barged in, interrogated her, and then abducted her on their bikes. Meanwhile, her male companion was left behind at the lodge.

The assailants took her to an isolated location, where they subjected her to brutal assaults, followed by multiple instances of rape. Subsequently, they forced her into a car, where even the driver assaulted her. The traumatic experience continued as she was taken to two to three different places and subjected to further gang rapes. Finally, they dropped her off on a National Highway, and she managed to board a bus.

In an appeal to the police, she demanded justice, expressing her desire for the perpetrators to be punished for their heinous acts.

The police have issued a statement confirming the arrest of three individuals linked to the case. The accused have been identified as Aftab Maqbool Ahmed Chandankatti, 24, a garage worker from Akki Alur; Madarsab Mohammed Isaac Mandakki, 23, a businessman from Akki Alur; and Abdul Khader Jaffar Sab Hanchinmani, 28, an auto driver from Hirur.

Another accused, Mohammed Saif Abdul Sattar Savikeri, was involved in an accident, resulting in a broken right leg. He is currently receiving treatment at the district hospital, and once his medical procedures conclude, he will be taken into custody.

The victim’s statement was recorded her statement before the judge and in which she claimed that seven individuals raped her and she was subjected to medical examination as well, said the police in the statement.

The police are actively pursuing the remaining fugitive suspects and have recorded statements from both the victim and her male companion, who was reportedly assaulted during the incident.
