Dharwad Makes History: Two Events Enter India Book of Records in Constitution Awareness Campaign

Dharwad, Karnataka: The Constitution Awareness Campaign, organized by the Dharwad district administration, concluded on Friday, after a remarkable 22-day journey across the district. The campaign covered 1,528 kilometers, reaching out to 146 gram panchayats, 7 urban local bodies, and all wards of the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation.

Key Highlights:

  • Two events entered the India Book of Records:
    • Traditional Walk: 10,000+ participants, including students, leaders, and officials, took part in a traditional walk from KCD Circle to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s student hostel in Dharwad.
    • Flag Parade: More than 15,000 people participated in a massive flag parade from Unkal Cross to Rani Chennamma Circle in Hubli.
  • Other notable events:
    • Transgender Jatha: The first-of-its-kind event in the state saw transgenders, devadasis, abandoned women, and others rally for their rights.
    • Differently-abled Jatha: More than 500 differently-abled people participated in a rally on their tricycles to raise awareness about the Constitution.
    • Sand Sculpture: A sand sculpture depicting the Constitution and the Indian Parliament was created.
    • Constitution Quiz and Speech Competition: Competitions were held for students and youth to encourage them to learn about the Constitution.
    • Distribution of Constitution Preamble: 2,30,000 copies of the Constitution Preamble were distributed to students and the public.
  • Awards and Recognition:
    • Dharwad district secured first place in the state and Belgaavi division for its innovative and impactful campaign activities.
    • Two events – Traditional Walk and Flag Parade – were recognized by the India Book of Records.
    • District in-charge minister Santosh Lad and Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu will receive the India Book of Records certificates at a special event on February 24.
