Goa: A 39-year-old CEO of an AI startup based in Bengaluru found herself amid a horrific incident on Monday night, as she was apprehended for the alleged murder of her four-year-old son in a service apartment located in Goa.

The accused, identified as Suchana Seth, was intercepted in Karnataka’s Chitradurga district while attempting to escape in a taxi with her son’s lifeless body concealed in a bag.

While the precise motive behind the tragic act is yet to be definitively established, preliminary police questioning revealed that Suchana Seth cited an ‘estranged relationship’ with her husband as one contributing factor.

Reports indicate that the woman had checked into a high-end apartment in Candolim, North Goa, on Saturday accompanied by her son, and had vacated the premises on Monday morning.

The incident came to light when a member of the housekeeping staff entered the apartment for routine cleaning on Monday and observed suspicious bloodstains, prompting immediate action by the hotel management.

Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, investigators discovered that the accused had left the hotel without her son, carrying a bag. Further inquiry revealed that she had requested the hotel receptionist to arrange a cab for her journey back to Bengaluru. Despite recommendations to take a flight due to cost considerations, she insisted on a cab.

Alerted by the hotel management, the Goa Police engaged the cab driver and spoke to the accused over the phone, seeking information about her son’s whereabouts.

During the call, she asserted that her son was with a friend in Fatorda, Goa. Faced with ambiguous and suspicious responses, the police instructed the driver to head to the nearest police station in Karnataka. It was there, in Chitradurga, that the Karnataka police discovered the lifeless body of the boy concealed in her bag, leading to her detention.
