90% Land Transfer for Dharwad-Belagavi Rail Line to Be Completed by January
Hubballi: The land transfer process for the Dharwad-Belagavi new railway line is set to reach 90% completion by January, with district administrations pledging to hand over 550 acres in Belagavi and 272 acres in Dharwad by the end of January month. Revised Detailed Project Reports (DPR) are expected by June, and the groundwork will commence following the tender process, said Minister of State for Railways, V. Somanna.
Speaking to reporters after chairing a review meeting with Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and elected representatives here on Sunday at the Railsoudha, the minister briefed about the key railway projects.
Hubballi-Sirsi-Talaguppa Railway Survey by January
The location survey for the Hubballi-Sirsi-Talaguppa new railway line is scheduled for completion by the end of January. The DPR for this highly anticipated 165 km route, connecting North Karnataka with the Malnad region, is expected by June-July. The route will include stations at Talaguppa, Siddapur, Sirsi, Mundgod, and other key locations.
New Rail Services from Hubballi
The minister also said that a new train between Hubballi and Ajmer has been approved. Instructions have been given for enhancing Hubballi-Varanasi train service to twice a week.
Efforts to expedite the construction of the Annegiri railway overpass were also discussed, he said.
Progress Review Meeting
The progress review meeting, held at Rail Soudha in Hubballi, was attended by Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, MP Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, MLAs Arvind Bellad, M.R. Patil, Mahesh Tenginakai, General Manager Arvind Srivastava, and other senior officials.
