Yediyurappa Denies Allegations of Harassing Minor Girl,  Says Ready to Face Legal Proceedings

Former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa responded to the FIR filed against him, vehemently refuting the accusations of harassing a minor girl. He asserted his willingness to cooperate with any legal proceedings, stating, “I came to know that a woman has filed a complaint against me. I will face everything according to law. I have not expected this and won’t say that it is politically motivated at this stage.”

Yediyurappa elaborated on the circumstances surrounding the complaint, recounting an encounter with a distressed mother and daughter near his residence about a month and a half ago. Initially wary due to suspicions, he eventually approached them upon witnessing their tears. “They claimed that they were going through a big crisis,” Yediyurappa stated, adding that he promptly contacted Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand for assistance. However, he lamented that the situation had now taken an unexpected turn, with the woman and her daughter making allegations against him.

The complaint, filed with the Sadashivanagar police station in Bengaluru, alleges sexual harassment dating back to February. Yediyurappa emphasized that the incident purportedly occurred when the victim sought his help on February 2.

Following the development, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar met with state Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara to discuss the matter. Parameshwara clarified that there was no political motive behind the complaint and affirmed that the police were conducting a thorough investigation in accordance with the law.

Parameshwara acknowledged the sensitivity of the issue, ensuring that the victim would be provided with necessary protection if required. He emphasized the need for caution when discussing matters related to a former chief minister, particularly highlighting the challenges faced by the complainant.

As the investigation unfolds, Parameshwara stressed the importance of discretion, noting that the complaint was typed and not handwritten. He urged prudence in handling the case, given its connection to a former CM.
