Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah delighted the audience by joining a folk dance troupe, engaging in the vibrant Veera Makkala Kunita dance. Displaying his well-practiced moves, he swayed to the rhythmic beats of drums, showcasing his familiarity with the traditional dance form. His mastery of Veera Makkala Kunita, learned during his youth, was on full display as he participated in the Karnataka Sambrahama -50 event at Hampi, a celebration organized by the Kannada and Culture department.

Breaking the superstition that visiting the Virupaksha Temple in Hampi might result in a loss of power, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah boldly inaugurated the Karnataka Sambhrama – 50. This year-long celebration commemorates the renaming of the State to Karnataka. After paying his respects to the revered deity at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Siddaramaiah also performed a special puja, symbolizing the necessity to dispel superstitions.

Furthermore, Siddaramaiah lit the lamp that was initially ignited by former Chief Minister Devaraj Urs 50 years prior at the same location. This act symbolized the significant event of renaming the State as Karnataka half a century ago, underscoring the importance of shedding superstitious beliefs and embracing progress.
