Vijayapura Municipal Corporation Goes to Congress

Vijayapura, January 09: The Congress party has successfully secured control of the Vijayapura Municipal Corporation. Mehjabeen, representing Congress, has been elected as the Mayor of Vijayapura, while Dinesh Halli of Congress has secured the position of Deputy Mayor. This marks a significant shift in the political landscape as Congress takes control of the Vijayapura Municipal Corporation.

The fiercely contested mayoral race saw Mehjabeen securing a total of 22 votes, leading to her election as the Mayor. Meanwhile, for the Deputy Mayor position, Dinesh Halli emerged victorious in the unopposed election.

With 10 Congress members, 5 from other parties, 2 independents, and the support of JD(S) members, and elected representatives voting for Congress, the party celebrated a triumphant victory.

The successful outcome for Congress in both the mayoral and deputy mayoral elections underscores the party’s solid support from its members, as well as the backing of other political factions.
