Washington( USA):  The US military conducted airstrikes in Yemen, targeting five missiles, including one for land attacks and four for ships, in response to ongoing Houthi attacks on shipping on Sunday.

The strikes were carried out to protect US Navy ships and merchant vessels in the region. This action follows previous air raids against Iran-backed Houthis.

Additionally, the US launched airstrikes in Iraq and Syria against over 85 targets associated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, retaliating for an attack in Jordan that killed three US troops.

The Houthis, since November, have been targeting Red Sea shipping, claiming to strike Israel-linked vessels in support of Palestinians in Gaza. Tensions in the Middle East have escalated, fueled by anger over Israel’s military actions in Gaza, leading to violence involving Iran-backed groups in Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen. A drone attack in Jordan, attributed to Iran-backed forces, prompted the US to respond with unilateral strikes in Syria and Iraq.
