Ujjain Man Arrested for Filming and Sharing Disturbing Rape Incident Occured at Intersection
In a disturbing incident in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, a man named Md Salim was arrested for allegedly filming and sharing the video of a woman being raped at a busy intersection, according to a report by DH.
The assault, which occurred in the Agar Naka area, saw another individual, Lokesh, forcing the woman, a scrap collector, to consume alcohol before raping her in full public view. Shockingly, passersby captured the incident on their phones without intervening to help the victim.
Md Salim, a 42-year-old auto rickshaw driver with a criminal history, is now under police custody. Authorities are probing whether Salim had any involvement beyond recording and circulating the video. His arrest followed a failed attempt to evade capture by traveling between the cities of Ratlam and Mandsaur, before returning to Nagda, where the police apprehended him.
According to Ujjain Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma, Salim faces multiple charges, including under Sections 72 and 77 of the BNS Act for disclosing the victim’s identity and capturing obscene material. He has also been booked under Section 67 of the IT Act and Section 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. Investigators are now focusing on identifying those who helped in circulating the video across social media platforms.
While the video played a crucial role in leading authorities to Lokesh, who was responsible for the assault, the police are working to uncover Salim’s exact role and any accomplices who might have aided in the crime.
