For the second consecutive day, there have been no bus services operating from Karnataka to Maharashtra. The North Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) initially suspended these bus services on Tuesday, and this suspension continued into Wednesday.

The reason behind this suspension is the unrest and unfavorable conditions prevailing in the neighboring state of Maharashtra. Violent protests have erupted in Maharashtra, with demonstrators demanding reservation for Marathas. The situation escalated to the extent that a bus affiliated with the Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation was set on fire by protesters during Tuesday’s violent demonstrations. This unfortunate incident occurred in Omerga, as the bus was en route from Bhalki in Bidar district, Karnataka, to Pune.

Ramanagoudar, the PRO (Public Relations Officer) of NWKRTC, stated that they had suspended a total of 360 bus services that operate from various depots to different parts of Maharashtra. This decision was made due to the adverse and challenging conditions for providing transportation services in Maharashtra amidst the ongoing agitation.

All 150 routes via Kolhapur and 210 routes via Miraj have been temporarily suspended until the situation stabilizes. However, Ramanagoudar also mentioned that passengers can still travel up to the Maharashtra border on NWKRTC buses and then switch to another MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation) bus to reach their final destination.
