Tragic Accident Claims Five Lives as Car Plunges into VC Canal

Mandya: Five individuals lost their lives when the car in which they were traveling in sped into the VC Canal near Banaghatta village in Pandavapura taluk, Mandya district, on Tuesday evening.

The deceased were from Tipatur in Tumakuru district and were likely on their way back home after a temple visit, according to the police. The incident occurred around 5 pm, and alert locals informed the police. The police, along with personnel from the fire and emergency department, successfully retrieved the submerged car at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Tragically, the car’s occupants were unable to escape the vehicle as it was fully submerged in the deep waters, exacerbated by water released from the KRS dam on Monday. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kumar, SP N Yatish, and other officials rushed to the spot.
