Chennai: DMDK founder-leader and renowned Tamil actor Vijayakanth passed away on Thursday after battling an illness. The 71-year-old, known for his impactful contributions to Tamil cinema and politics, succumbed to health complications despite receiving ventilatory support for pneumonia.

MIOT International, in a press release, confirmed the sad news, stating that Captain Vijayakanth breathed his last on the morning of December 28, 2023. The medical staff’s dedicated efforts were unfortunately unable to overcome the challenges posed by his condition, reported local news outlets.
