Stranded Goa-Bound Passengers Transported from Hubballi in Special Buses
Hubballi: In a swift response to a major disruption in train services caused by a goods train derailment near Dudhsagar on the Karnataka-Goa route, the North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) has arranged 27 special buses to transport stranded passengers from Hubballi to various destinations in Goa.
The derailment, which occurred on the crucial rail link between Karnataka and Goa, led to the suspension of several train services. One of the most affected was the Amaravati Express, which was halted at Hubballi with over 1,300 passengers on board. These passengers, en route to Vasco, found themselves stranded, sparking concerns, especially among families with children, elderly passengers, and those carrying heavy luggage.
To alleviate the situation and ensure passengers could reach their destinations without further delay, the South Western Railway department quickly coordinated with NWKRTC. The Hubballi Rural Division of NWKRTC, under the guidance of Divisional Controller H. Ramanagoudar, promptly arranged for 27 special buses.
These buses were strategically stationed at the Hubballi railway station, ready to transport passengers as soon as the Amaravati Express arrived. The operation was executed seamlessly, with buses departing shortly after the train’s arrival, taking passengers to key destinations in Goa, including Vasco, Madgaon, and Panaji.
Passengers expressed their gratitude for the swift and efficient response. Sandeep, a tourist from Kolkata traveling with a group of 50, said, “We were concerned about our journey after the train service was disrupted. However, the timely arrangement of special buses by the railway department and Karnataka’s transport corporation resolved our problem. We are now continuing our trip to Goa happily. We are thankful to the officials for their prompt action.”
The quick response by NWKRTC earned praise from South Western Railway’s Chief Commercial Manager, Anoop Dayanand Sadhu. He commended the efforts of the transport corporation’s Managing Director Priyanka M., Divisional Controller H. Ramanagoudar, and other officials for their prompt coordination and effective execution.
The successful operation was also overseen by Divisional Technical Engineer P.Y. Gadad, Depot Managers Rohini, Nagaraj, Munnasab, Assistant Traffic Manager I.G. Magami, and Station Masters Hanchate, Santosh, and Daval Sab Budihal, ensuring the smooth and safe transit of passengers.
