State Cabinet’s Decision to Revoke CBI Consent in DK Shivakumar Case Creates Political Storm
Bengaluru: State BJP chief BY Vijayendra condemned the state government’s cabinet decision to withdraw consent given to the CBI by the previous government to investigate a disproportionate assets case against Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
Speaking to reporters, Vijayendra said it was unfortunate that the state government had withdrawn the previous government’s consent and misused its powers. The state cabinet’s decision was against the law, taken to save DK Shivakumar. It is unfortunate that DK Shivakumar did not raise his voice against this and face the legal proceedings boldly. Considering the state government’s decision, it appears that DK Shivakumar feared facing the case and has a fear of the law, said BY Vijayendra.
Former CM HD Kumaraswamy slammed the government’s decision, terming it as unfortunate. He stated, “This government is protecting looters.”
BY Vijayendra’s elder brother, Shivamogga MP, also criticized the government’s decision, stating that this case is before the High Court, and with this move, the government is trying to make a constitutionally established body accused. This will send a wrong message to society, he said.
