Singapore-based Indian food supplier, Suvai Foods, faces three charges under the Sale of Food Act after live cockroaches were allegedly discovered in its premises, including among chutney packets and in the chapati-making area.

The company, founded in 2012, specializes in vegetarian and halal products. The charges include lapses in hygiene, a modified office space used for packing, and the presence of live cockroaches.

The prosecutor is seeking fines for each charge, with a potential conviction leading to a fine of up to SG$5,000. The case is scheduled to be heard again on January 24, 2024.
