Shivakumar Clears the Air: Congress Stands by Vinod Asooti, Nomination Filing Tomorrow
Belagavi: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has clarified that there is no question of changing the Dharwad Lok Sabha candidate.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Shivakumar said that if Dingaleshwar Swamiji had decided to contest the Lok Sabha election from the Dharwad Lok Sabha segment much earlier, then there was a chance to field him. Now it is not possible, he said.
The Congress party has fielded Vinod Asooti from Dharwad, and he will be filing his nomination tomorrow.
Shivakumar lashed out at former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy for his statement on rural women going astray due to the guarantee programs of the state government. Seeking an apology after making derogatory statements is not enough. What is the use of seeking an apology after doing damage? He questioned.
Women should teach a lesson to both the BJP and JDS in this election for the statement HD Kumaraswamy made. If Kumaraswamy opposes the guarantee schemes so much, let him give a call to BJP and JD(S) women workers not to avail themselves of the benefits of the guarantee scheme; not more than five would give up, said Shivakumar.
