Qatar Alters Death Sentences for Former Indian Navy Personnel
A Qatar court has commuted the death sentences of eight former Indian naval officers, convicted for undisclosed charges, previously speculated to be spying for Israel.
India’s foreign ministry revealed the sentences were reduced but didn’t specify the new penalty. Israel’s embassy declined comment, deeming it “not an Israeli matter.”
The men, initially sentenced to death in October, were reported to be Al Dahra employees by India, though widely believed to be ex-Indian Navy personnel. The court’s order remains undisclosed, and the families are awaiting the detailed judgment, with India considering next steps, maintaining contact with the legal team.
