In a gripping showdown on the cricket field, New Zealand clinched a decisive victory against Sri Lanka, shattering Pakistan’s aspirations of making it to the ICC Cricket World Cup semi-finals. The path for Pakistan now requires a triumph against England in their upcoming league match, scheduled for Saturday in Kolkata. The catch? They need to secure a win by a whopping 287 runs if they bat first or chase down the target with 284 balls to spare, equivalent to within three overs.

With the odds heavily stacked against them, Pakistan faces a formidable challenge, and New Zealand appears poised to face India in the first semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium on November 15. Meanwhile, the second semi-final is a confirmed clash between the five-time champions Australia and South Africa. Both Australia and South Africa, alongside India, still have one more game left in the league stage.

India, with an unblemished record of winning all eight league matches, emerges as the undeniable favorite in their final group clash against the Netherlands on Sunday.

Prior to that, South Africa is set to take on Afghanistan in Ahmedabad on Friday, while Australia is geared up for a clash with Bangladesh in Pune on Saturday. The cricketing arena is buzzing with anticipation as the race for the coveted semi-final spots reaches its climax.
