P.V. Narasimha Rao Honored: BJP Condemns Congress for Past Actions
Bengaluru: In response to the Union Government’s announcement of conferring the Bharat Ratna on the late Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, the Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit took a dig at the Congress, accusing them of disrespecting Rao’s legacy.
The state BJP’s official Twitter account posted a scathing tweet, recalling an incident from 2004 when Sonia Gandhi allegedly barred Rao’s body from entering the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters.
The tweet accused Sonia Gandhi, then Congress president, of undermining Rao’s legacy by preventing his family from cremating his body in Delhi and allegedly forcing the transportation of his body to Hyderabad. The BJP called on Congress, specifically targeting the Nehru-Gandhi family, to issue an apology for what they termed as the posthumous humiliation of P.V. Narasimha Rao.
The BJP asserted that by honoring Rao with the Bharat Ratna, they have corrected what they deem as the wrongdoings of Congress, offering a fitting tribute to one of India’s great statesmen who played a significant role in shaping the nation during challenging times.

To undermine Rao’s legacy, Sonia even prevented Rao’s family from cremating his body in Delhi and forcefully flew his dead body to Hyderabad.
