New Delhi: Leaders of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Operation Sindoor, and the ceasefire announcements involving India, Pakistan, and the United States.
Rahul Gandhi, in a letter dated May 10, said the situation demands immediate attention from Parliament and stressed that it’s important for elected representatives to reflect the concerns of the people during such critical times. He called it a chance to show collective unity in the face of serious national challenges.
Supporting Gandhi’s request, Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge also wrote to PM Modi, highlighting the need for an urgent discussion in both Houses of Parliament.
Adding to the pressure, senior MP Kapil Sibal demanded an all-party meeting but said it should only be attended if the Prime Minister himself agrees to be present. Sibal criticized the lack of transparency around the ceasefire talks and questioned why no information had been shared publicly.
He stressed that the country can’t wait until the Monsoon session for answers, calling this a moment for unity, not political sparring.
