No Liquor, But Look What They Found! Raid on Dharwad Flat Unearths Crore Rupees

Dharwad: Income Tax officials in the city stumbled upon a large amount of cash during a raid on an apartment suspected of storing liquor bottles.

The raid, according to the sources, conducted by a team of officials in six vehicles, targeted flat number 303 in Arrna residency based on an anonymous tip. While searching the flat belonging to Basavaraj Dattunavar, the officials found no liquor but discovered bundles of cash stacked inside an almirah.

The amount exceeding Rs 10 lakh prompted the officials to call in Income Tax officials who are currently counting the money. With only one counting machine available, the process is expected to take time. Unconfirmed sources suggest the sum could be around Rs 18 crore.

Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu is expected to arrive at the scene and likley share more details about the raid.
