Nigerian Airstrikes Kill 40 Suspected Terrorists, Including Five Commanders: Reports
Abuja: At least 40 suspected terrorists, including five high-ranking commanders, were eliminated in recent airstrikes by the Nigerian military in Borno State, according to an official statement on Wednesday.
Edward Gabkwet, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Air Force, informed the media in Abuja that the airstrikes were executed on August 16 in the Southern Tumbuns region of Borno, where the terrorists were reportedly regrouping.
Gabkwet highlighted that these air raids were part of a strategic effort to further destabilize terrorist factions in the northeast, while ensuring the safety of civilians and military personnel in the area.
He explained that the operation was based on confirmed intelligence, which indicated a secretive movement of terrorists into the region from nearby locations.
“This mission has undoubtedly dealt a severe blow to the operational capabilities of the few remaining terrorist elements in the area,” Gabkwet stated.
