Netanyahu Asserts Israel’s Sovereignty Amidst US Interference Claims
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized the sovereignty of Israel, refuting claims of U.S. interference in the ongoing Gaza Strip conflict. Responding to reports suggesting U.S. restrictions on Israeli operations, Netanyahu stated unequivocally, “This is not true. Israel is a sovereign country, and our decisions are based on operational considerations, not external pressures.”
Denying allegations of external influence, Netanyahu stressed that the decision to engage in the conflict was driven by the necessity to defend the nation, stating, “There is no other choice but to fight.” He communicated this stance directly to U.S. President Joe Biden, affirming Israel’s commitment to continue the war until achieving victory.
Addressing the Israeli cabinet, Netanyahu acknowledged the challenges, describing a “difficult morning after a difficult Saturday” marked by the loss of 14 IDF soldiers in Gaza. Opposition party members criticized Netanyahu, accusing the government of adhering to U.S. directives.
Expressing gratitude, Netanyahu thanked the U.S. and President Biden for their support in a UN resolution on Gaza. The Prime Minister’s remarks aimed to clarify Israel’s autonomous decision-making in the conflict and dispel any notion of external control.
