Mysuru-Darbhanga Express Derails After Collision; Trians Diverted

Train no. 12578 Mysuru-Darbhanga Express had rear collision with goods train at Kavaraippettai Railway Station around 20.30 hrs in Chennai – Guddur section between Ponneri- Kavarappettai railway stations (46 km from Chennai) of Chennai Division.

 

 

This train consisting of LHB coaches, passed Ponneri railway station at 20.27hrs and was given green signal to run through the next station Kavaraipettai via the mainline. While entering the Kavaraipettai station, the Train crew experienced heavy jerk and instead of going into the main line as per the line clear & signals given, the train  entered into the Loop/line at 75kmp & hit the  stabled Goods train in loop line.

 

Due to this Power Car which was next to the Engine caught fire, which was doused by Fire brigade. Total 12-13 coaches have derailed. So far, no casualties are reported. All injured passengers are moved to nearby hospitals for further treatment. Train movement in both the direction is closed.

 

Doctors, Ambulances, Medical Relief Van & Rescue team has reached the site and Senior Officers of Southern Railway are at site and monitoring the situation.

  1. Train No. 12296 Danapur- Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru, Journey commenced on 10.10.2024 from Danapur, will be diverted to run via Gudur, Renigunta & Melpakkam. Skipping stoppage at Perambur and Arakkonam railway stations with an additional stoppage at Tiruttani railway station.

 

  1. Train No. 22353 Patna – Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru, journey commencing on 10.10.2024 from Patna, will be diverted to run via Gudur, Renigunta & Melpakkam. Skipping stoppages at Perambur railway stations with an additional stoppage at Tiruttani railway station.

 

  1. Train No. 22306 Jasidih – Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru, journey commencing on 11.10.2024 from Jasidih, will be diverted to run via Gudur, Renigunta & Melpakkam. Skipping stoppages at Perambur railway stations with an additional stoppage at Tiruttani railway station.

 

Due to the collision of Train no. 12578 Mysuru-Darbhanga Express with goods train at Kavaraippettai Railway Station around 20.30 hrs in Chennai – Guddur section between Ponneri- Kavarappettai railway stations (46 km from Chennai) of Chennai Division.

  1. Train No. 12509 Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru – Guwahati, Journey commenced on 11.10.2024 from Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru, will be diverted to run via Katpadi, Melpakkam, Renigunta and Gudur. Skipping stoppage at Arakkonam and Perambur railway stations with an additional stoppage at Tiruttani railway station.

 

  1. Train No. 12551 Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru – Kamakhya, journey commencing on 12.10.2024 from Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru, will be diverted to run via Dharmavaram and Vijayawada. Skipping stoppages at Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Perambur and Gudur railway stations.

 

  1. Train No. 12295 Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru – Danapur, journey commencing on 12.10.2024 from Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru, will be diverted to run via Dharmavaram, Kazipet and Ramagundam. Skipping stoppages at Krishnarajapuram, Bangarapet, Kuppam, Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Arakkonam, Perambur, Gudur, Nellore, Ongole, Vijayawada, Khammam and Warangal railway stations.
