Lok Sabha Election: Congress Announces Five Guarantees for Women ” Nari Nyay”
In a significant move, the Congress party revealed its “Nari Nyay” guarantee as a pivotal component of its manifesto. Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi made the announcement during a Mahila Sammelan in Maharashtra’s Dhule, part of his ongoing ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.’
Rahul Gandhi outlined five key guarantees aimed at empowering and uplifting women, should the Congress secure victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The “Nari Nyay” manifesto includes the following commitments:
- Mahalaxmi Guarantee: The Congress promises an annual financial assistance of ₹1 lakh to each woman hailing from economically weaker families.
- Shakti ka Samman: The Congress party plans to double the monthly honorarium of Anganwadi, ASHA, and mid-day meal workers.
- Savitribai Phule Hostel: As part of its commitment to women’s welfare, the Congress pledges to establish at least one working women’s hostel in all district headquarters across India. Furthermore, the party aims to double the number of these hostels nationwide, providing safe and supportive spaces for working women.
- Half the Population, Full Rights: Under this guarantee, the Congress commits to implementing a 50% reservation in all government jobs for women. The move seeks to address gender imbalances in the workforce and create more opportunities for women in various sectors.
- Adhikar Maitri: The Congress proposes the appointment of a paralegal, termed “Adhikar Maitri,” in every panchayat. These legal assistants will be tasked with raising awareness among women about their rights and providing essential assistance in navigating legal matters.
Rahul Gandhi emphasized the party’s dedication to ensuring the holistic development and empowerment of women across the country. The “Nari Nyay” guarantees are designed to address economic disparities, enhance employment opportunities, and empower women with legal awareness.
