Jharkhand Horror: Brazilian Woman Raped, Spanish Partner Assaulted
Dumka, Jharkhand: In a horrifying incident last Friday night, a Brazilian-Spanish couple, traversing through Asia on a motorcycle expedition, fell victim to a brutal attack in Jharkhand’s Dumka district. The woman, identified as a vlogger, was subjected to a gang rape, while her Spanish partner endured a severe beating. Authorities are actively investigating the incident that transpired in the Kurumahat area, approximately 400 km from the state capital Ranchi.
The couple, en route to Nepal via Bhagalpur as part of their biking expedition, had set up camp at Kurumahat for the night, about 40 km from the district headquarters. The assault occurred at this spot, situated in Dumka district under the Poreyahat assembly segment, falling within the jurisdiction of the Godda Lok Sabha constituency.
According to a police source, the assailants, numbering seven, spotted the couple camping near Hansdiha market in Dumka and carried out the reprehensible act just 50 meters from their tent.
Dumka SP Kherwar reported that the woman sought assistance from a police patrol vehicle around 10:30 pm, revealing the harrowing incident. The couple was subsequently visited in the hospital, where they recounted the traumatizing experience to the authorities.
The woman bravely shared her ordeal on social media, disclosing that the perpetrators not only assaulted and robbed them but primarily sought to commit the heinous crime. Her partner, in a separate video post, detailed the physical injuries they sustained during the attack.
Medical examinations were conducted on the woman, who is currently undergoing treatment at the Phulo Jhano Medical College in Dumka. The incident has sparked outrage, prompting intensified efforts from law enforcement to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice.
