Bengaluru: A delegation of BJP leaders visited rain-affected areas in Bengaluru on Tuesday to assess the extent of the damage caused by recent heavy showers.
The team included BJP state president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra, Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, Chief Whip of the Opposition in the Legislative Council N. Ravikumar, MLAs Satish Reddy and C.K. Ramamurthy. The delegation visited the Silk Board Junction, one of the most affected areas, and took stock of the situation.
Following the inspection, the BJP leaders held a symbolic protest, displaying “Bad Bengaluru” posters to criticize the Congress-led state government. They alleged that even after two years in power, the government had failed to carry out meaningful development and instead was marked by corruption, scandals, and rising prices.
They accused the government of failing to implement adequate relief measures despite the intensity of the rains. “The administration was negligent and took no preventive steps ahead of the downpour,” they claimed.
“The lives of Bengaluru residents have turned into a nightmare. People are facing enormous hardships, yet the government seems indifferent and has not come forward to help them,” the leaders alleged.
With more heavy rains forecast in the coming days, the BJP delegation criticized the government for its lack of preparedness. “Even a short spell of rain is enough to throw Bengaluru into chaos. What has the government achieved in the last two years? Is this what they call Brand Bengaluru?” they questioned.
