Hubballi, June 15: A love marriage that sparked family opposition and led to a police complaint has now ended in reconciliation, thanks to timely intervention by Navanagar Police.
The incident took place in Bhairidevarkoppa, where a woman—identified as Rajita (name changed)—was reportedly taken away by her parents from her husband’s residence against her will. The couple, Rajita and Niranjan, had registered their marriage in Gadag after a five-year relationship that began on Instagram.
Niranjan, a cab driver, and Rajita had initially met while living in the same locality, Renuka Nagar. Despite belonging to different castes and social backgrounds, the two developed a bond online which blossomed into love. Facing strong resistance from her family, Rajita left her home and chose to marry Niranjan.
Following her disappearance, Rajita’s parents filed a missing person complaint at Navanagar Police Station. After remaining away for nearly six weeks, the couple resurfaced and met with police officials.
Rajita’s parents initially requested she be allowed to return home temporarily, citing her mother’s ill health. The police granted the request. However, in a recent development, the family informed authorities that they no longer object to the relationship and will not interfere further.
With this, the couple has officially reunited, bringing the emotionally charged episode to a peaceful close.
