IRCTC Website and App Crash: Passengers Face Major Inconvenience Across India
Indian Railways passengers faced significant disruption today (December 9, 2024) as the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website and app went down, leaving travelers unable to book train tickets nationwide.
According to Downdetector, a tool for tracking website outages, users reported issues with both the IRCTC website and mobile app. Around 50% of users could not access the website, 40% experienced problems with the mobile app, and 10% faced difficulties completing ticket bookings.
Reports indicate that the disruption began around 10 AM, affecting users trying to access railway services. Passengers complained about being unable to log in, view train schedules and fares, and complete transactions during ticket booking.
In response to the outage, IRCTC issued a statement on its website attributing the issue to maintenance activities. The message read:
“E-ticketing services will be unavailable for the next hour due to maintenance activity. Please try again later. For cancellations or to file TDRs, kindly contact customer care at 14646, 0755-6610661, or 0755-4090600, or email us at [email protected].”
Many users took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share their grievances and screenshots of the disruption on IRCTC’s platforms.
