India’s Vision for 42 Crore Air Passengers by 2030 Takes Flight
India’s Civil Aviation Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia, predicts a tripling of air passenger traffic to 42 crore by 2030, emphasizing civil aviation as a cornerstone for national transportation.
Speaking in Rajahmundry after laying the foundation for a new terminal building, Scindia highlights the growing capacity at metro airports and the addition of greenfield projects.
He outlines plans for increased airports, waterdromes, and heliports, anticipating a rise from 149 to 220 by 2030. The minister emphasizes connectivity improvements in Andhra Pradesh, where new airports and routes under the UDAN scheme have significantly enhanced air travel.
The new Rajahmundry terminal, costing Rs. 350 crore, is poised to bolster regional tourism, investment, and agricultural trade. Scindia expresses optimism about the potential for a cargo terminal based on future demand.
